Provincial Secretary of the Eastern Region, Andrew J. Fofanah, addressing stakeholders in Penguia
Sandaru Town, Penguia Chiefdom, Kailahun District, 2 June, 2021-The Provincial Secretary of the Eastern Region, Andrew J. Fofanah, who doubles as the Head of the administrative investigators sent by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) to Penguia Chiefdom has during the course of the investigations assured the Penguians that his team did not go to the Chiefdom to judge anyone, but to get their views on matters relating to the conduct of their Paramount Chief, Samuel Sheku Gibrilla.
“We are not here to tell you who is right or wrong. We are only here to get your side on the issues that triggered the conflict between you and your Paramount Chief, “he assured.
He disclosed that before the team went into the Chiefdom, they had an exclusive interview with the Paramount Chief in question in Kenema, where the team documented his response on the allegations against him. He added that his team even engaged the Resident Minister of the Eastern Region, Andrew Fatorma who also gave his take on the issue under review.
“So I want you all to feel free to say all what you know about the issue that we are here for. At the end of the day, our report is going to be based on the responses that we gather from all of you.It would also inform our recommendations, which will be submitted to the Local Government Ministry for further actions.
The Caretaker Chief, Brima Tamba Sundu Gorwa, assured the team of his people’s support towards the process. The team has being in the Chiefdom for three days now and has interviewed many stakeholders including, the Caretaker Chief, the Seven-man Committee, Youth Leaders, Women’s Leaders, Okada Chairman and many others.
The process is expected to end on Friday 4th June 2021.
